this is a hollow body with no sound hole. it has a nice birch ply top on a long narrow box. the box is painted with house paint, white and green.

it has 12 pentatonic keys. not my favorite, but people like it.

rk 318

it can be retuned.

the lack of sound hole could be good for anti-feedback.

this is a deep baritone, shallow bass kind of instrument. it has nine keys which have had solder placed underneath the keys. this gives them a much lower tone.RK 386 electric kalimba

the pick-up hears the keys very evenly and strong.

this is a 15 key solid-body electric kalimba. it is tuned to C major and has two octaves. the pressure bar is a little crooked, which doesn't effect the sound.

EL 66

the wood is unfinished. this kalimba has a nice sound with a clear and even pick-up.

this is a story tellers box, which is to say it is an acoustic-electric about 6 inches wide and 7 inches long. it sounds wonderful, very even as an electric, and acoustically it is good too.

it feels very nice in the hands because of the round over it had on the front and that i put on the back. it started life as the top of some box, and i put in the pick-up and jack and glued on the jakota ply back.

it is tuned to C major. to hear it being played:
